Well, the William Morris Quilt is finally finished and is on our bed. I love it and so pleased I decided to make it. There are some mistakes, not all of the green stones are square, but unless you look closely you would not notice.
This size quilt is so handy to pop over the top of the bed without all the bulk of it hanging down the sides of the bed, and quilting as you go was a great choice, no wrestling with a big quilt trying to machine quilt. I did quilt around the squares to hold the front to the back but did it by hand without a hoop as the hoop made it rather unwieldy to hand stitch.
I have started another quilt working in the Attic Window design. Using floral designs for the centre squares and plain colours for the sides, I am hoping that it will give the appearance of looking out onto the garden. For this one I am using my old Elna Airtronic, a lovely machine that my parents bought for my 18th Birthday, many years ago. This machine has been a real workhorse over the years having made many curtains, home furnishings, duvet covers and clothing, including my wedding dress.
